Our Mission
Many beginners learning a foreign language face a situation where they understand the grammar, but they can’t speak. A situation where reading books in a foreign language, watching movies, or talking with native speakers is too difficult — so difficult that it becomes impossible.
This happens because they lack a basic vocabulary. As is well known, the 1,000 most frequent words of a language cover about 70–80% of everyday speech, and 2,000–3,000 words cover up to 85–90% of an average text. In other words, if you know at least 1,500 words, you can communicate with native speakers in that language.
GoVokabel helps people overcome this basic entry threshold and expand their vocabulary. On our website, we’ve collected clear, easy-to-follow learning texts that cover the main everyday topics. Level A includes up to 1,000 unique words. Level B includes 2,500–3,000 unique words. The texts come with audio, so you can listen to these topics (the audio can be slowed down or sped up). Read the texts aloud, listen to the audio, repeat after the speaker, and you will see your foreign-language skills truly improve: speaking will become easier, and fear and uncertainty will disappear. Over time, you will understand all the texts on this site — this is a sign that you have reached an intermediate level. Now you can move from learning materials to real books and real communication.
Our goal is to make language learning simple, regular, and accessible for beginners — and to help you finally start speaking a foreign language.
We develop GoVokabel step by step: we add new languages and improve the content and tools for real progress.
